“ In some business relationships, chemistry is as important as anything else. The best doctor in the world isn't going to do you any good if you hate him or her (notice I said doctor, not surgeon). The best attorney in the city won't be any help if you distrust his or her advice. And when it comes to real estate agents, unless you see eye to eye on certain things, it just isn't going to work.
In looking for a house, we ran into a lot of real estate agents. You would be stunned by the amount of attitude given off by some of these people. It's a sales job, folks, time to be nice to your fellow man! Thankfully, early in our house hunting, we visited an open house Doug was doing. And he was nice, and friendly, and polite, and helpful. And he was from Minnesota, which is where we had moved from. And we just....clicked.
And from there on out, Doug threw himself into helping us find a place. We would get daily emails with possibilities, and as we looked and responded, the emails would get more and more focused as all of us began to figure out what would work best. And Doug drove us all around the city looking at places. And was always friendly, and helpful, and on time, and and and.
And finally we found a place, and he helped us seal the deal.
One point about Zephyr. For the most part, all real estate agents take the same cut. That being the case, there's no reason not to hire someone from the 500-pound gorilla agency. After their initial tour of my property (during trying COVID times), Doug and Eddy provided me with a detailed sales plan even before I committed to hiring them. I was impressed with the amount of time and effort they put into the process from the very start. From there, we worked together to develop a plan to upgrade and/or repair specific features of the property to maximize the sales price and minimize upfront costs.
